Our Young Rangers Program(YRP)
Our Young Rangers Program is aimed at supporting young people in Aberdeen with a combination of the following- Low or limited aspirations, Low confidence/esteem, Weak sense of personal identity, Undeveloped ‘soft skills’, isolated young people, etc. which is due to family circumstances, past experience of bully, discrimination, stigmatization, racism, assaults etc.
The program motto is to "Socialize, Explore, Learn, and Protect!"
Young people are trained to protect parks, continue to learn about parks, and share their own ranger story with friends and family.
Our Young Ranger program is an activity based program planned to be conducted in different National Parks. Young people shall complete a series of activities during a park visit, share their answers with a Park Ranger, and receive an official Young Ranger Badge and Young Ranger Certificate.
Young Rangers are typically between the ages of 5 to 16.
Most of our visits are over a weekend while some are day trips.
Parks are unique treasure trove of wildlife and natural beauty that provides the perfect outdoor classroom, offering fantastic opportunities to experience nature.
Outdoor learning not only enables an awareness of the natural environment – encouraging care and appreciation of it – being immersed in nature has fantastic health benefits too and can improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children.
Our next Young Rangers Trip will be a weekend away to the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Scotland . Young people shall be cared for by our trained staff and volunteers who will support the young people to ensure they are safe and had a good time/experience.
If you are parent/guardian/worker of any child who meets the program criteria and who may benefit from this program, please phone or email us to book a place.
There is absolutely no fee to booking / attendance.
